Moss was born February 13, 1977. He is an American football player. He was a
former American footballer who played for 14 years in the National Football
League (NFL), including with the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders as well
as the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. He is widely regarded as
Jerry Rice's greatest wide receiver. He holds the NFL single-season record for
touchdown receptions of 23 in 2007 the NFL rookie single-season touchdown
records (17 in 1998) and is ranked second on the all-time NFL regular season
touchdown receptions with 156. Moss was well-known for his skill at securing an
elusive catch and "mossed" is today a football word. Post-football,
he began working with ESPN as an analyst for its studio Sunday NFL Countdown
and Monday Night Countdown programs. Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. He
attended DuPont High School. It was one of two schools which later merged into
Riverside High School. There he excelled at football, basketball, baseball
track, as well as other sports. Randy was also a part of the school's debate
team. On the football field, Moss led the DuPont Panthers to back-to-back state
championships in 1992 and 1993. Moss was a renowned wide receiver. He also
played free safety and punt return. In 1994, he received the with the Kennedy
Award as the West Virginia Football Player of the Year. Parade magazine named
him to their All-American high-school football team in 1995 and in 2009 the
magazine named him one of the 50 most outstanding football players from high
schools ever.
